Well, the surgery went well yesterday... although he could not perform the bladder endo excision. Apparently, during the surgery the 1st screen for the camera in my abdomen was not working. Then, before he went on to the "big" part of the surgery (the bladder), the 2nd one stopped working. So, he said "When two things go wrong in a surgery, I don't want something else to go wrong." and stopped. The surgery was right about 1.5 hours (twice as long as expected). He did remove the endo from the cul-de-sac (right behind the uterus). He also said that now my left ovary has been attached by endo & pulled back towards the cul-de-sac. I didn't ovulate this cycle, either. He said my right tube + ovary look great, though, & my appendix. He said he thought the adhesion on my bladder looked more like scar tissue than endo, though. It's still there & causing discomfort, but better than endo. It doesn't seem as though the Zoladex implants worked very well @ reducing the endo. At least it helped my pain. He still feels IVF will be just as successful & that Clomid (which he initially agreed to prior to surgery) is not a good idea as I normally ovulate. We will start using ovulation prediction kits, even though it probably won't help fertility wise I just want to know that my body is getting back to normal.
So, we will have a couple of months to try on own & then start IVF. I was blessed enough this weekend to speak to a woman that had IVF at the end of last year & was carrying triplets. She amazingly made it to 35wks5 days. She had some problems following the delivery, but is doing much better now. She is also a Christian, so that was even more encouraging. I really hope we have enough money to do it this December &, of course, that it's successful.
Since the surgery was so late in the day (3:00-4:40ish), my doctor wanted me to stay overnight for observation. It was as bad as I worried it would be. My doctor came by around 7:00 am this morning to have me discharged & we left the hospital around 9:15. Got home & took a nap until around 3pm. Needed some pain med & ate a bit of something. I'm already tired again! With not having eaten since Saturday night, I thought I would be STARVING coming out of surgery, but I haven't had much of an appetite. They said anesthesia can do that... loss of appetite for 24 hours.
My mom & N stayed with me most of the night & I also had some dear friends come & visit for a couple of hours. They were all so sweet to me. I have a couple of pics from last night in the hospital that I will try to have N put online for me tomorrow (since our at-home connection doesn't upload pics for some reason).
Thanks so much for the prayers! Even though the surgery wasn't as successful as we had hoped, I am still optimistic about IVF in December. We are praying for His direction & His provision for the emotional & financial needs we will face with this treatment in December. We are also looking into dietary changes to help the endometriosis pain. I have read about women that have felt much better with cutting out gluten completely & cutting out processed food or adding only organic to their diet. We will see & I'm sure keep ya up-to-date!

So glad to hear the surgery went well. Take care of yourself and rest. Do you know what type of stims your doctor will be putting you on for the IVF?
glad you are home safe and sound. those camera issues are alarming. i am surprised they don't have back ups. rest well. If your right tube is all clear and great, does that mean IUI's can used or regular good old fashioned sex (gasp I said it) would work if ovulating from the right? and how long will you be recuperating at home? I took a week in bed and then a week working from home. apparently i was a big baby cause everyone else seems to bounce back better.
Oh and happy birthday!
You have a wonderful attitude about your surgery and your options to become parents. I hope you can conceive without the need for IVF or if you need IVF, that it works for you.

Glad the surgery went well! Don't eat too much once you get hungry again, start with little bits as I found that after my laps, my whole digestive system wasn't too keen on working properly.
Yup after a surgery I would totally recommend some diet changes for the endo, i've had doctors tell me that macrobiotics is the only way to go with endo, and i have not gone that extreme, but i never eat anything oily or fried or fast foods, and have been trying to cut out wheat and milk products.
take care
ps - good not to take the clomid - if you ovulate clomid can thin your lining and then you would have another problem.
Happy (belated) Birthday!
I'm glad that the surgery went well (despite the camera mess-ups). Rest up and feel better soon!

We are in somewhat the same boat. Check out my blog when you get a chance. God Bless!!
Glad the surgery went well. Good Luck with your IVF cycle! NCLM
Just found your blog through "Lost and Found." I too suffer with enometriosis and have been trying to conceive for more than three-and-a-half years. Ugh! Totally frustrating, huh?
I'm going to link your blog to mine and follow your story! Sounds like you all are on your way to IVF #1. Blessings with raising money for this endeavor!
I am glad that everything went well and that you are doing ok. I will join in that prayer that everything works out for you.
Here via NCLM - I'm glad your surgery seemed to go well. Best of luck with your upcoming IVF.
P.S - I assume you've heard this before, and I'm probably being uber-repetitive, but just wanted to note how Turtles are signs of fertility, not infertility. So maybe your turtle connection will turn out to be happy.
I'm glad to hear that your surgery went well, even if they didn't accomplish all they wanted. Hopefully it will be a success!
Happy Belated Birthday!

I'm glad your surgery went well overall! I can't believe the cameras went out, that's not acceptable. Good luck with your fundraising efforts... if only we could get IF coverage mandated in every state. A girl can dream, right?

Hiya,
In terms of the eating/lifestyle changes... where to begin?
Supplement your diet with a B complex and Vitamin e (the vit e is important as you just had surgery and apparently it will help keep away the scar tissue).
Flax meal (ground up flax seed) every day just though it on your breakfast.
Things I avoid are, dairy, wheat and anything greasy or fried, and sugar. No white carbs. It's also called the 'canidia diet".
So I eat a lot of veggies, brown rice, some fish, beans. I do eat some beef and some chicken, but not a lot and I try to eat organic.
If I'm feeling ill, like right now, I try and drink miso soup every day, it helps get rid of free radicals.
Also try and incoroporate some "sea veggies aka sea weed".
I did have one doctor who recommended a macrobiotic diet, which i did stick to for 6 months and felt great.
Now I mostly try and keep to my new diet, but everyone has chocolate now and then!
So the most important things are getting lots of fibre and exercise... We need to get rid of excess endo, which can be done through exercise and fibre.
There is a book on endo diets out there, I have read that too and it's good, says the same thing as what I just said.
hope your recovering.
I'm glad the surgery went well. Happy belated birthday! :)
Hey, when I used to click on your profile, your sites didn't show so I couldn't find you. Glad to see that I can find you now, and that surgery went well. Wishing you all the best as you approach IVF.
Via NaComLeavMo...
Glad to hear surgery went ok, sounds like you have a sensible surgeon. Good luck with your cycle.
Thanks for the bday wishes! I've been checking in and waiting on a new post. I hope you are doing well, I had my last lap just 6 months ago, it takes time to heal, take EXTRA good care of yourself....
Where are you? You okay? Worried about you...
